Thalassaemia

Prof. Datin Dr. Duraisamy gave a talk on Thalassaemia to the doctors and nurses of Hospital Seri Manjung, Sitiawan in November 2006. Her talk was mainly to educate the staff of the hospital on the disease and the level of awareness the Malaysian public has about this disease.

MS ISO 15189 Award Presentation



In February 2006, we successfully converted the ISO/IEC 17025 to MS ISO 15189 through Standards Malaysia. We are the first major private laboratory to achieve a comprehensive scope of accreditation in the fields of Chemical Pathology, Histopathology, Cytopathology, Haematology, Microbiology and Virology.

In recognition of this achievement, we launched the official award presentation ceremony on 27th June 2006 in Mandarin Oriental, KL. The award was presented by Y.B. Dato' Kong Cho Ha (Deputy Minister of Science, Technology & Innovation) who was representing Honourable Minister Y.B. Dato' Sri Dr Jamaludin Dato' Mohd Jarjis (Minister of Science, Technology & Innovation) to Dr. Christopher Ting Yew Ping (Chief General Manager, Gribbles Pathology (M) Sdn. Bhd.).

Speeches from the Honourable Minister (delivered by his deputy) and Dr. Christopher were followed by the award handover ceremony. The ceremony closed with a buffet lunch.

Nilai International College & Gribbles MOU
Nilai International College and Gribbles Pathology (M) Sdn. Bhd. signed a memorandum of understanding on 26th September 2005 to enable Nilai International College's Medical Laboratory Technology students to be attached to Gribbles laboratories throughout Malaysia for their industrial training.

Autoantibodies in Clinical Practice

Prof. Dr. Toh Ban Hock delivered a talk on Autoantibodies in Hospital Fatimah, Ipoh on the 16th June 2005. Doctors were invited by Gribbles to listen to the latest development in this area and a dinner after.

Leading Edge Breakthroughs

                                                                             Professor of Molecular Diagnostics, Griffith University (Australia)

Prof Ian Findlay gave a talk in PJ Hilton in May 2005 on the current research efforts and breakthroughs achieved by Gribbles Molecular Science (GMS). GMS aspires to provide cost effective diagnostic technology to doctors. Some of the breakthroughs Prof Ian Findlay spoke about were the prenatal diagnosis from Pap smears (to check for gender, presence of any genetic diseases etc), prenatal diagnosis from embryos (to increase the success rate of IVF pregnancies), forensics (for "difficult" samples i.e. sample contamination, multiple rape cases), pharmacogenomics (i.e. genetic predisposition to certain drugs) etc.

World Health Day
A Public Awareness Health Exhibition was held by the Ministry of Health in conjunction of "World Health Day" in 1Utama on 9th - 10th April 2005. The Federation of Thalassaemia along with MOH invited Gribbles Pathology Malaysia to provide free blood tests to the public during these two days. The blood tests were conducted on the spot and a panel of doctors appointed by the MOH interpreted the results.
