Chief Executive Officer - Sambantha (Sam) Moorthy B. Applied Science,MBA

Sam has been involved with pathology since 1983 and brings with him a wealth of experience (30 years) in all disciplines of the pathology business. He has been in charge of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Haematology Departments in his many previous roles. Sam served two years as General Manager Operations at Gribbles Pathology Malaysia before taking on this current role. Prior to joining Gribbles Pathology Malaysia in September 2011, Sam was Operations Manager, Healthscope Pathology, Western Australia.

HAEMATOLOGY (Based in HQ)

Professor Duraisamy has had many years experience in the field of haematology and lectured the subject in many institutions such as Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Malaya, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, International Medical University & WHO. Prior to being employed by Gribbles, she has worked as a consultant haematologist in several hospitals such as Hospital Kuala Lumpur (where she was Director and Consultant Haematologist of the Blood Services Centre), Hospital Kajang and Hospital Penang. Some of her research interests include anaemia, haemophilia and congenital blood disorders, thrombophilia and hepatitis B and C. Her research has resulted in over 180 international & national peer reviewed journals and other scientific journals. She has also held several prominent positions in her career such as President of the Haemophilia Society of Malaysia, EXCO Member of the World Federation of Haemophilia, and Chairman of the AIDS action committee of MMA. Professor Duraisamy is also active in community service being the Chairman Board of Governors, Senior Methodist Girls’ School, KL and Member of the Board of Trustees, Centennial Scholarship Fund.

Prof Datuk Dr. Ainoon Othman PJN MBBS (UM), DCP (Lon), DrMedSc (UKM), AM (Mal), FAMM, FRCP (Edin),
Professor Datuk Dr Ainoon graduated with a medical degree from University of Malaya in 1979, obtained her postgraduate qualification from University of London in 1984, a Doctorate of Medical Science in 2005 from UKM and awarded Fellow of the Royal College of Edinburg in 2008. Currently, she is the Medical Professor and Consultant Haematopathologist with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) and also serves as a Consultant Haematologist, with UKM Medical Center. Her clinical interests are G6PD deficiency and thalassaemia with special interests in molecular diagnostics. She has obtained numerous research grants and worked extensively on G6PD deficiency in Malaysia. She has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and is a member of the editorial board of the Malaysian Journal of Pathology. She is presently the Vice President of College of Pathologists, Academy of Medicine Malaysia and has served as a council member since 2008.

Assoc. Prof Dr. Leong Chooi Fun MD (USM), MPath (UKM), FRCPA, FAMM
AP Dr Leong obtained her medical degree from University Science Malaysia in 1993, received her postgraduate qualification from University Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2000 and was awarded the Fellowship from the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in 2004. Presently, she is the Head of Blood Bank Unit of Department of Diagnostic Laboratory Services and a lecturer of Department of Pathology, University Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre. Some of her research interests include transfusion medicine and stem cell research. Her professional organisation memberships include Malaysia Councillor of Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia, honorary secretary of College of Pathologists, Academy of Medicine Malaysia, Council member and member of Clinical Haematology Training Committee and Research Fund Committee in the Malaysian Society of Haematology.

CLINICAL BIOCHEMISTRY (Based in HQ)
Prof. Dr. Leslie Charles Lai Chin Loy
MBBS (Lon), MSc (Lon), MRCPath, MD (Lon),
FRCPath, AM (Mal), FAMM, FRCP (Edin)
Dr Lai has had an outstanding career in both academia and clinical practice. He has won multiple awards at both National and International levels in his field and authored over 60 papers published in peer reviewed journals. His research interest is predominantly on the endocrine aspects of benign and malignant breast disease. He has presented in over 45 lectures in various conferences/seminars/courses held in the UK, South East Asia, Japan, Australia and holds many offices including the present Secretary General of the World Congress of the Societies of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (WASPaLM) and Vice-President of the Asian & Pacific Federation of Clinical Biochemistry. He has held teaching positions in the UK as well as locally; most recently as the Dean of Post Graduate Studies at IMU. He joined Gribbles in March 2004 as a consultant Chemical Pathologist.

MICROBIOLOGY (Based in HQ)
Associate Professor Datin Dr Ganeswrie Rajasekaram  MBBS(Mysore), M.Path(UM)
Datin Dr Ganeswrie served the Ministry of Health, Malaysia, as a Pathologist (Clinical Microbiologist) in Hospital Sultan Aminah, Johor Bahru for the last 20 years. Obtained her subspecialty in Micobacteriology from IMVS, Adelaide, Australia. She was Head of Microbiology and Infection Control in the Hospital as well as the state of Johore. Contributed towards developing guidelines for Tuberculosis and Infection Control Practices at the national level. She has held key positions in antibiotic stewardship, laboratory quality control and safety committees. She pursued her interest in lecturing at Monash University (JB Campus) and currently holds the position of Associate Professor of Medical Microbiology of Monash University, Malaysia. She has more than 35 publications in international and national peer reviewed scientific journals. 

HISTO/CYTOPATHOLOGY 
Dr. Siva Das Thuraisingham (Based in Ipoh) MBBS (Ind), DAP&E (Mal), MPath (UKM), AM (Mal)
Dr Siva Das joined our Perak branch in 1998. Prior to that, he spent 8 years with the Ministry of Health working in various fields. He then went on to further his studies and after obtaining his Masters degree in Pathology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, he worked for 3 years as a consultant pathologist in Hospital Taiping, Hospital Teluk Intan and in a private healthcare group 

Dr. Bhanumathy Pillay (Based in HQ) KMN, MBBS (Ind), DCP (Lon), FRCPA, FIAC
Dr Bhanumathy has been employed in Gribbles Pathology since late 1996. She has trained and worked as a Histo/Cytopathologist for 28 years with special experience in Cytopathology. She has played a leading role in the development of the Cervical Cytology Screening Programme in Malaysia and has taught Cytopathology to many of the Pathologists and Cytotechnologists currently practicing in Malaysia. Prior to working in Gribbles, Dr Bhanumathy was Head of the Clinical Pathology Department and Head of Cytology Division (23 years in the latter position) in Institute of Medical Research. Among her duties as Head was to perform routine cytodiagnostic work for the General Hospital, Kuala Lumpur and the National Chest Hospital as well as consultative cytology services for all state laboratories. She has also conducted cytology courses for the Ministry of Health and conducted research and retrospective studies. As of this date, she has authored 20 publications.

Dr Sophia Merilyn George (Based in HQ) MBBS, MD DNB (Path)
Dr Sophia Merilyn George joined Gribbles Malaysia as consultant histopathologist in February 2013. Prior to this she was working as the Histopathologist in charge at a private cancer speciality Hospital in India, where in addition to specialist reporting she also undertook teaching, joint clinics in oncology and quality control and management. She has trained in Pathology at premier institutions in India, and is a gold medallist in Pathology. She has experience in cancer reporting and diagnosis at Tata Memorial Hospital Cancer Centre in Mumbai in the capacity of senior registrar where she also won prizes for paper and poster presentations. In addition she has been actively involved with several research papers and projects. She has also been an assistant professor in pathology at the Christian Medical College Vellore where in addition to specialist reporting for dermatopathology and oncopathology she also was involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research projects. In her career of post specialization, she has been solely reporting large and small histopathology specimens, with immunohistochemistry interpretation and frozen section diagnosis. With a keen interest in the latest advances she is a regular at several conferences and CMEs, and is focused on applying latest information to current histopathology reporting.

Dr.Madhavan Manoharan (Based in HQ) MBBS, M.D (Path), MIAC Consultant Pathologist)
Dr.Madhavan gained his post-graduate degree in 1989(gold medal)from the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) Pondicherry, one of the pioneer post graduate medical institutes in India. He has 24 years of experience in anatomic pathology, including his academic activities in various capacities at numerous medical institutions both in India and Malaysia. He worked in Universiti Sains Malaysia for 10 years (from 1995 to 2005), lecturing and mentoring many post graduate students. He was also actively involved in many research projects and presented many scientific papers and guest lectures. He is a recipient of many awards for best service and best paper presentations. Dr Madhavan has contributed regularly to international journals, and has published some 37 indexed articles. He is a member of the International Academy of Cytology and has a long and rich experience in pap smear (both conventional and liquid based cytology) and non-gynaecology cytology reporting.
