Dr Chris joined Gribbles as Chief General Manager of Malaysia and Singapore in March 2005. He graduated with a MBBS from Melbourne University, worked as a clinician at The Austin & Repatriation Medical Centre before completing his MBA in 2002 from Melbourne Business School. Prior to joining Gribbles, he worked with the Biomedical Sciences Group, Economic Development Board of Singapore.

Clinical Consultants
HAEMATOLOGY   (Based in HQ)
Prof. Datin Dr. G. Duraisamy                        KMN, JSM, MBBS (Spore), DCP (Lon), D. Path (England),

Professor Duraisamy has had many years experience in the field of haematology and lectured the subject in many institutions such as Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Malaya, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, International Medical University & WHO. Prior to being employed by Gribbles, she has worked as a consultant haematologist in several hospitals such as Hospital Kuala Lumpur (where she was Director and Consultant Haematologist of the Blood Services Centre), Hospital Kajang and Hospital Penang. Some of her research interests include anaemia, haemophilia and congenital blood disorders, thrombophilia and hepatitis B and C. Her research has resulted in over 180 international & national peer reviewed journals and other scientific journals. She has also held several prominent positions in her career such as President of the Haemophilia Society of Malaysia, EXCO Member of the World Federation of Haemophilia, and Chairman of the AIDS action committee of MMA. Professor Duraisamy is also active in community service being the Chairman Board of Governors, Senior Methodist Girls’ School, KL and Member of the Board of Trustees, Centennial Scholarship Fund.

MICROBIOLOGY   (Based in HQ)
Datuk Dr. M Jegathesan                  PJN, DPMP, AMN, KMN, JSM, PJK, MBBS (Spore), FRCPath (UK),
                                                                                FRCPA (Aust), DTM&H (Bangkok), DCP (Lon)

Datuk Dr Jegathesan is a well known personality in medical research, academia and sports. After his graduation, he served in the Ministry of Health for 31 years and held many positions, including being Program Director of the Research Program and Deputy Director General (Research and Technical Support). He was also Director of the Institute of Medical Research from 1988 to 1994 and has also served as chairman and member of the Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee (STAC) of the WHO’s special program on Tropical Diseases Research. Datuk has contributed over a hundred publications as a result of his active research in infectious diseases and medical microbiology. In recognition of his many achievements, he was awarded the National Science Award in 1995. Currently he is an Adjunct Professor in the University Putra Malaysia, Consultant Clinical Microbiologist for Sunway Hospital and Consultant and Director of MAHSA College. He is still active in the sports arena after attaining the coveted title “Fastest man in Asia”. Among his current positions are being the current Deputy President of the Olympic Council of Malaysia and President of the Malaysian Association of Doping Control Officers.

CLINICAL BIOCHEMISTRY   (Based in HQ)
Prof. Dr. Leslie Charles Lai Chin Loy                        MBBS (Lon), MSc (Lon), MRCPath, MD (Lon),
                                                                                                                   FRCPath, AM (Mal), FAMM, FRCP (Edin)

Dr Lai has had an outstanding career in both academia and clinical practice. He has won multiple awards at both National and International levels in his field and authored over 60 papers published in peer reviewed journals. His research interest is predominantly on the endocrine aspects of benign and malignant breast disease. He has presented in over 45 lectures in various conferences/seminars/courses held in the UK, South East Asia, Japan, Australia and holds many offices including the present Secretary General of the World Congress of the Societies of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (WASPaLM) and Vice-President of the Asian & Pacific Federation of Clinical Biochemistry. He has held teaching positions in the UK as well as locally; most recently as the Dean of Post Graduate Studies at IMU. He joined Gribbles in March 2004 as a consultant Chemical Pathologist.

Histo/Cytopathologists
Dr. Bhanumathy Pillay   (Based in HQ)                           KMN, MBBS (Ind), DCP (Lon), FRCPA, FIAC
Dr Bhanumathy has been employed in Gribbles Pathology since late 1996. She has trained and worked as a Histo/Cytopathologist for 28 years with special experience in Cytopathology. She has played a leading role in the development of the Cervical Cytology Screening Programme in Malaysia and has taught Cytopathology to many of the Pathologists and Cytotechnologists currently practicing in Malaysia. Prior to working in Gribbles, Dr Bhanumathy was Head of the Clinical Pathology Department and Head of Cytology Division (23 years in the latter position) in Institute of Medical Research. Among her duties as Head was to perform routine cytodiagnostic work for the General Hospital, Kuala Lumpur and the National Chest Hospital as well as consultative cytology services for all state laboratories. She has also conducted cytology courses for the Ministry of Health and conducted research and retrospective studies. As of this date, she has authored 20 publications.

Dr. Shahrin Iskandar Abdul Wahab   (Based in HQ)                          MBBS (QLD), M Path (UKM)
Dr Shahrin has been working in Gribbles Pathology (M) Sdn Bhd as a consultant histopathologist since 2003. He also lectured and worked as a Consultant Pathologist in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in Universiti Putra Malaysia. Prior to that he was attached as a Pathologist in Hospital Kangar and later on became the Head of the Pathology Department there. Dr Shahrin also served in Hospital Pulau Pinang and was involved in starting the renal pathology service there.

Dr Philip Jayasurya   (Based in HQ)                                                    MBBS (Ind), M.D. Path (Ind)
Dr Philip has just recently joined us at Gribbles HQ in July 2006. He completed his post graduation in India in 1991 and then worked as a Lecturer in Pathology for nearly 6 years in a University in India. Upon arriving in Malaysia, he worked as a Consultant in Queen Elizabeth hospital, Kota Kinabalu and Hospital Sultan Aminah, Johor Bahru. He has presented in medical courses and conferences held in Malaysia and Australia.

Dr. Siva Das Thuraisingham   (Based in Ipoh)     MBBS (Ind), DAP&E (Mal), MPath (UKM), AM (Mal)
Dr Siva Das joined our Perak branch in 1998. Prior to that, he spent 8 years with the Ministry of Health working in various fields. He then went on to further his studies and after obtaining his Masters degree in Pathology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, he worked for 3 years as a consultant pathologist in Hospital Taiping, Hospital Teluk Intan and in a private healthcare group

Datuk Dr. Athimulam s/o Nadason   (Based in Malacca)     PJK, SKT, PJN, MBBS (Ind), DCP (Lon)
Datuk Dr. Athimulam has 26 years of experience in his field, both overseas and locally. He worked for 7 years as a Pathologist in General Hospital (KL and Malacca) and as a Consultant Pathologist in Malacca. He also holds teaching experience with medical undergraduate students. After that, he was attached to a private healthcare group for 13 years. He has held many prominent positions such as being the President of the Malaysian Medical Association and currently among other positions, is on the Board of Governors for the Melaka-Manipal Medical College and Chairman of MMA Committee on Medical Association. He joined our Melaka Lab in 2001.

Dr. R. Krishnan   (Based in Penang)                                  MBBS (Ind), MPath (Mal), MIAC, AM (Mal)
Dr Krishnan has 23 years of medical experience. He has been a consultant Histo / Cytopathologist in several private laboratories since 1982. He has also lectured in the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti of Malaya, KL. Dr Krishnan has contributed to local and international medical journals. He joined Gribbles Penang Lab in February 1999.
